$545,000 in Australian Government grants for local schools

The Federal Member for Scullin, Harry Jenkins has welcomed the announcement that nine schools in the Scullin electorate have received $545,950 in grant funding from the 2007 Investing in Our Schools Programme round for government schools.

The Diamond Valley Special Developmental School has received $100,000 for landscaping.

“Diamond Valley Special School has helped students with special needs and their families over many years,” Mr Jenkins said.  “The school’s use of not only classrooms but outdoor spaces to enhance the scope of experiences for students is well regarded and this funding is appropriate recognition of this.”

Greensborough Primary School $43,737 grant is for information technology equipment and t the school also received $56,013 to upgrade its school grounds bringing its total funding to $99,750.

“Greensborough has a great reputation within the community for the innovative way that the school has used information technology as an integral education tool,” Mr Jenkins explained.

Mr Jenkins congratulated the schools on receiving the funding.

"Our local hardworking students and teachers deserve the best possible educational environment,” Mr Jenkins said.  “These capital grants enable schools to upgrade their grounds and facilities for the well being of staff and students.”

"It is always important that our local community receives its fair share of available funding and I know that our local schools will put these additional funds to good use."
